Komodo dragon tooth, SEMKomodo dragon tooth, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). This curved serrated tooth is designed to slice, cut and tear meat, but not to chew it. The Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) has 60 teeth, with new teeth emerging behind the old ones, not underneath them as in other lizards.
